There are the following types of  Temporary Visitor visa.

 

Sightseeing

Stay for sightseeing, entertainment, worship, or transit purposes

・ Visiting friends, or Visiting relatives.

If a relative within the third degree of kinship is invited, it is called a “relative visit,” otherwise it is called an “acquaintance visit.”

・Business

・Recreation and similar activitie

Stay for the purpose of recreation and treatment of illness.

・Sports and similar activities

Participating in competitions or contests as an amateur

・Inspection and similar activities

・Participation in training and similar activities

Participation in courses, briefing sessions, etc. held by educational institutions, companies, etc., lectures, lectures, etc. without remuneration.

 

Period of stay

90days ,  30 days ,  Period in units of days within 15 days

※Even if the period of stay is less than 90, 30, or 15 days, if you will be staying in Japan for the majority of the year, your status of residence will not be recognized as a general rule.

※”Activities of operating a business that generates income”” and “activities of receiving remuneration” are not deemed to fall under the category of activities permitted under “Temporary Visitor” even if they are “”temporary”」

 

 

Permit examination criteria

・Financial requirements

To be able to pay all expenses during your stay in Japan.

・Non-remuneration requirements

Activities that involve operating a business that generates income or activities that receive remuneration must not occur.

 

How to apply

There are two ways to apply for a “Temporary Visitor (Short-term visitor)” visa.

① Applicants residing outside Japan must apply in advance before coming to Japan.
Applicants with foreign nationality should plan their visit to Japan, prepare the necessary documents, and apply at the Japanese embassy or consulate in their country of residence.

② A resident of Japan invites a foreigner to Japan, and the applicant applies in advance in the country of residence.

A resident of Japan makes a plan to invite a foreigner to Japan, then prepares the necessary documents and sends them to the applicant residing overseas.
Once you have received the necessary documents, apply at the Japanese embassy or consulate in your country of residence.

*Required documents vary depending on the applicant’s nationality and purpose of travel.
